Paving Contractors

Paving contractors are involved in a multitude of projects ranging from building roads, parking lots, building pads to residential driveways and patios.  Some paving contractors work on large scale infrastructure projects such as highway construction or paving county roads as well as large private projects such as paving airport runways or terminals.  A paving contractor can work on any project where paving is involved.  Most paving contractors have learned their trade by working on paving crews as laborers, equipment operators, or foremen on different jobs.  Generally, paving contractors work on larger scale projects however they also can focus on residential driveway paving and/or associated parking areas.

Paving contractors mainly lay contiguous materials like concrete and asphalt as well as seal or repair both types of paving materials.  As a side note, concrete contractors or asphalt contractors may refer to themselves as paving contractors.  Some states distinguish between paving contractors through specialty licenses or registration.  For example, the state of Hawaii requires an asphalt contractor to have a specific license which differs in class from a concrete contractor’s license.  Check to see what your state’s requirements are here:  www.contractors-license.org.  Also, paving contractors differ from paver contractors in that paving contractors will generally not get involved in laying individual pavers such as brick, stone, or concrete pavers, while paver contractors do specialize in this type of surface paving material.  After you determine which type of contractor your project needs, search and find appropriate paving contractors in your area through Contractor Community’s robust free database.
